[RAKA] Mahoroba

Hello, this is my first post in this forum, and I wanted to give everyone a gift and share my translation of the song Mahoroba, seeing as I can't find the translation of this beautiful song anywhere.

Translation:

It's calling me to the distant far away place,
the counting song of that day that lined up my footsteps.
If I run through the grass smelling murmur of these wheel tracks that continue,
In the hill of promise, the afternoon light will fly down.

I wonder where was it born,
the cloud that is floating in the sky.
To where is it going to end?
The flow of that water.

The shining ground whispers the voice of life,
while just escorting the passing season.
"Be proud of living in the now",
it addresses me.

If I gently close my eyes to the melody of the wind,
I can hear a gentle lullaby of my mother.

The madder red color of the evening
sways lonely, and sees off someone who travels.

Melting in the horizon that brings the sky full of stars,
wrapped in empty leftovers of the day that scatters,
like the day that burns out in the neverending dream,
the moon smiles at the tomorrow.

Let's run through this road barefoot,
without looking back.

One bird that travels in order to
recite the song of flowers and many trees,

And kazaki03, I'm not sure if I really understand what you mean. xD

It's pretty good, but maybe you'd want to try researching a little, since all of the translations of Mahoroba have the same problem of not having the Ainu choruses that are sung near the end. According to a website, these are the lyrics for them:

(Gods who rule the land, Gods who have descended over the land, are you hiding from us?
Are you hiding from us?)

Oh, I see... But I own the RAKA album and was translating from the lyrics that were there. And there were no ainu lyrics included, though I am aware that she does sing more of lyrics in other language, but since it's not included in official booklet, we can't be sure they are accurate. And even if they are accurate, I think it's ok not to include them since they are not in the official booklet anyway. And could you please link me to other translations of Mahoroba because I already mentioned that I've already searched the internet but couldn't find anything. Thank you and I'm sorry for posting something I probably shouldn't.

Yes, Shikata-sama herself confirmed that the language for these choruses was Ainu in a entry in her blog that specified the languages that she used in RAKA, and included the Swahili choruses for Kinkanshoku. The entry in question is here (the second entry down from the top).

As for other translations, I've done one in Spanish, based from the translation that one of my friends, Lazy, originally made. It's published in my blog, here.

You and Lazy-sama are what I consider "AT and Translation Gods".

Thanks for that link, I didn't know about that before. But in that entry the only lyrics she writes down herself are for Kinkanshoku, do you know where do those in Mahoroba come from? I mean, who confirmed the exact ainu lyrics for those? I respect your friend's translation, but you do understand what kind of language Japanese is and that it can be translated quite differently from person to person (I'm just saying this because I get the vibe that you think my Japanese translation was also off). And also, I don't anyway understand ainu to be able to translate it on my own. I also wonder why people don't post their translations in this forum (it seems to lack most of Shikata's songs), especially since they are members of it.

About this, well, I suppose it's one of our weakness indeed. I'll try to improve it once we've finished moving out later on. But because we don't particularly depend ourselves on lyrics, this section is more like a bonus. Thank you for reminding me, though.

I can post as many lyrics as I can, but I worry about copyright stuff from the translators/transcribers. xD
